We decided a while ago to start blogging about our DIY adventures but never really found time to get the whole thing started but as we do more projects, this seemed like the perfect time. So, without further delay, I will introduce us.
I am the princess. Not a princess in the strictest sense but I'm definitely a reformed diva and my husband definitely treats me like a delicate jewel. I was born and raised in a big Florida city with all the comforts that came from being a late in life baby and an only child (at least to one parent anyway). Money never seemed to be much of an object and I got pretty much whatever I wanted. I always thought if it costed more, it must be better. I never gave much thought to frugality. I met Prince Charming when I was only 18. We married before my 20th birthday. I was in for a bit of a rude awakening.
The Prince was also raised in that big Florida city with most of the same comforts but very frugal parents who came from tragic circumstances of poverty. He learned at an early age that saving money was important above all else and he was well...dare I say it? Cheap. So, Pottery Barn meets Wal-Mart. Most of our early disagreements were about money management.
Before long, we had our first child and then our second. Life was good. We both had college degrees and were settling well into careers. To condense the last 14 years into 14 seconds (or less), we now how 4 children, a big mortgage and two cars. The Prince has finally broken me and I understand the importance of saving money. I'd say that's at the heart of our DIY adventures. However, we love making stuff together so I'd say its done a lot for keeping us close as well. I hope through the documenting of our projects that others can see that you can have a beautiful home with functional design and not spend a fortune.
Join us as we learn to make everything from furniture to art!
